Q 11. What are the advantages of buying the car from Auction?

Some of salient benefits of auctioned Japanese used cars are:

Low Price - To own used cars is expensive in Japan! This causes used cars to be sold early and cheap - the longer one keeps a car in Japan, the more it will cost for maintenance and inspections.

Efficient sales system - Reselling cars has become very easy with a well-developed system.

Safety - All those involved in vehicle auction and export process are accountable and the market overall is trustworthy.

High Supply - Around 150,000 cars are offered weekly for bidding.

High Standards - Vehicles in Japan are maintained very well and used efficiently. Also, every vehicle is independently reviewed and inspected as condition is a perquisite of selling it in auction;

More Equipment - Japanese vehicles contain what in most countries consider "extras”, for example, navigation systems, alloy wheels etc.

 Q 11. What are the drawbacks of buying a car from Auction?

There are following disadvantages of buying a car from auction:

  • The car you buy might have unknown problems
  • There are no warranties on what you buy. All cars and trucks are sold without any warranty.
  • The buyer's purchase fees (fees added to your bidding price) raise the purchase price. You do not pay these fees when buying from a private seller.
  • You do not get to test drive the car. You test drive after you have made the purchase. Prior to the purchase you have to just make an educated decision whether or not to buy a particular vehicle.
  • The resale value of an auction history car is typically less than what you would pay for a private car.
